There were made some updates to the WebApps functionalities.
New options were added:

1) Offline Mode .This will allow the WebApp to be cached on the device so it will fully work in offline mode. Once the app is installed on the device it will work similar as a native app.

2) Open links in the same window. This is an important option that will make all the URL's and pages from the app to be opened in the same window. A new tab will not be opened in the browser anymore.

3) App Multimedia .You can now upload icons (for all devices) and even splash screens.

4) QR Code will appear after the app is published .

5) Updates. Once you would like to update an installed WebApp on a device, you will have just to republish it on the website. In a few minutes then a pop-up message will appear on the device informing about the updates received.
Note that in order for the WebApp to be updated, it needs to be opened on the device.

Hi Victor,

In July you wrote: "The next features will be added: 1) HTML 5 tabs..."
As far as I can see all but the HTML 5 tabs have been added.
What are your plans in this respect?
Can you advise us how to add tabs in the meantime?

Thanks,
Laszlo

The new improvements to the WebApps are really nice, especially the offline mode. If tabs could be automatically added to WebApps that would make them very useful in certain situations.

For example the Slide gallery page type works very well in a WebApp but its not possible to add our own tabs to this page. So without a tab menu, navigation out of the gallery is only possible via the back button.

We are currently working on adding HTML5 (or jQuery Mobile) tabs for WebApps. You will be able to use this functionality in the next update. I will keep you in touch with the working progress.

I Sept 2013 you said: "The new updates will include adding offline mode, QR code links and option for installing the WebApp on the device (adding the icon on the home screen). These functionalities are already implemented but not yet released. I will let you know once we do that."

I am really concerned about adding the icon on the home screen. Without that function, in most people's mind, it's not an app, it's a web page.

I still cannot see where this function is if you released it. Am I missing something?

Keith,

Open the WebApp with Safari on an iOS device. Then from its menu press "Add to home screen" .The app will be added on home screen with the icon which is set in App Store Proprieties. The app will work in offline mode as well. Also splash screens can be added.

Is the tab navigation functionality still not complete?

Can you provide sample code to re-create navigation system?

Hello Allin,

You need to share your URL and users will be able to access the webapp using any browser.

If you want the users to be able to install the application to home screen consider to make a Progressive Web App.

For more details on this case consider to follow this PWA Tutorial.
