Now, everyone can have a QR Scanner in his application.

Because QR codes (Quick Response Code) are worldwide used, Seattle Clouds developed a QR Scanner page type.

To insert the scanner in the app, you can just select the “QR code scanner” page type from Page Type Resource Manager.

**NOTE: No further action required for QR Scanner page.

Features:

QR Code Scanner uses Phone or Multimedia Device primary camera as scanner. It works without any problems on low resolution camera devices, such as iPod.

Just look to fit the QR Code into your screen and scanner will automatically find the code.

SC QR Scanner supports following QR Codes versions:

  1. Version 1 (21×21). Content: "Ver1"

  2. Version 2 (25×25). Content: "Version 2"

  3. Version 3 (29×29). Content: "Version 3 QR Code"

  4. Version 4 (33×33). Content: "Version 4 QR Code, up to 50 char"

  5. Version 10 (57×57). Content: "VERSION 10 QR CODE, UP TO 174 CHAR AT HIGH LEVEL"

THis is a great feature BUT...when it scans the QR Code it doesn't hyperlink to a browser. It allows you to email the scanned detail but no click on it to open it in Safari for example.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Erik,

I was announced right now that it's implemented.

You will be able to notice the changes in your application binary (build) or in SC Application v4.0.3 that we hope to release future week.

Aurel

Hi,

Fantastic feature!
Is it likely to support Android devices in the near future?

Thanks,
Greg
Greg,

I can't provide you with any deadline.

Hi, I was not able to find "If you want to scan the QR code please tap on the button "Scan" string in Localizable.strings. Any idea where can I change/localize it or get rid of this text?

I'm designing a mobile museum app and want to implement QR codes.
Can I link the QR code to a page within the app, for example further info about the museum object, or only to an external URL?
This i really a needed feature. I also needs this for one of my apps. Hopefully SC can implement this feature very soon.

Yes I pretty sure you could. The link would only work within the app though. So if someone scanned the code outside of the app the link would go nowhere.
Andrew - could you be more specific with your answer? How is linking within the app achieved? Thanks!!! :-)
Create a text only QR code using the prefix local://
For example local://coupon.html
When scanning the QR code with the app, the link will direct the user to the app's internal page coupon.html

Hi,

I have created a page with the QR scanner and it works with an external link (I get a path with the link address). But can I link the QR code to a internal page within my app?

This can be easily done by creating a QR code using "local://" instead of "http://".

For example create a text QR code using the string local://coupon.html

When scanning the QR code with the app, the link will direct the user to the app's internal page coupon.html
