Among all the recently added page types at SC you may find the interactive Puzzle page.

Here you may add an image and once you access the puzzle page through within your app, you may shuffle it (randomize the pieces), then just enjoy playing this little game.

It may be not much, but it is interactive and makes you kill some time trying to put all the pieces together :)

Well, getting back to the instructions.

To add the puzzle page type to your app go to your application's dashboard and access the "Edit pages" link.

Then click "+" (Add new pages) button and select the Puzzle page from the available list and click "Create" to actually add the page.

Now you need to add an image to the puzzle page. Thus, click on "Edit" button next to the newly added puzzle page,

and once re-directed to the page Editor click "..." button to call up the Resource Manager.

Upload the image to the resource manager of your application first. Then switch to the "Resources" tab and find the uploaded image among the list of the stored files. Highlight/select the image file and click on "Choose" button.

After you shown the path to the puzzle image make sure to click "Save" button in order to have the changes applied.

You may now access your application to test the puzzle page through the latest SC app.

Check out the below screenshots to see how the puzzle page looks within your app:

Now tap "Randomize" to have the image image split into smaller puzzle pieces and have them shuffled.

Stuck with putting the puzzle pieces together? Tap "Preview" to see how the image initially looks like.

**NOTE: Puzzle Page type is now supported by all SeattleClouds platforms (iOS, Android OS).

Thank you,
Thanks Ethan. (Trying on iPad)
Good: Image loads, Randomize and Preview work.
Questions: How do we access structure in order to (a) Select and Move/Swap tiles, (b)Return to same puzzle state following Preview Button press (c) Have the App know when it is complete.

Hello Cabel,

try uploading a 320x480 size image to your puzzle page type. It should be displayed perfectly there.

Feel free to open a support ticket in case you need any further technical assistance.

New to Forum, trying out to see if this is the tool to use for long term. Looks really cool and trying to decide on what subscription level to purchase. In the meantime I have one more question that would help me make up my mind for puzzles...

Image loaded in Resource is 1024x768. Appears that it may have been clipped by Puzzle, because when iPad is rotated into Landscape, the right side of landscape picture is missing (now white area.)

Hello Kevin,

For the time being the Puzzle page is designed to function in portrait view mode only. We are going to insert a notification message in this page, prompting the user to return to portrait mode for proper functionality if the page was rotated to landscape.

Thank you,

OK- thanks Ethan.
Will there be a way to specify number of pieces that the puzzle gets divided into? Noticed 3x3 on iPhone, and 7x8 on iPad.
Since you guys have already done the main work, what would be really cool would be if there could be an alternate swap puzzle mode rather than slide puzzle mode. The diffence being when playing swap puzzle there is no empty tile, and the player either taps or drags one tile from the original location to another, and that swaps the two tiles. (easier to play)

Hello Kevin,

For the time being we are going to leave the puzzle page type as it is, and unfortunately, you will not have the option to specify the number of pieces that an image should be divided into.

As regarding the "alternate swap puzzle mode", this is quite a good suggestion and we will take it into consideration. However, at the moment, our Developers Team has a large number of tasks to be taken care of, thus, I am not able to give you an estimated timeframe when such a feature will be implemented.

Thank you,

I am using 320 x 480 but the top of the image is taken off when put into puzzle page.

Here are some tips for the best fitting images for a Puzzle page type.

- Once you click the "Randomize" button on a Puzzle page, the image is divided into 9 sections/squares: 3x3. Each square is of a 100x100 px size. Therefore, in order to have an image perfectly fit the Puzzle page, without having the edges cut off, you may consider adding an image of 300x300 px size.

- After tapping the "Randomize" button the image is divided into 7x8 square pieces, each of 100x100 px size. Therefore, to have an image perfectly fit the Puzzle page in an iPad app, it should be of 700x800 px.

Hope this helps you.

I have used the puzzle image in my app and it seems to be an exact square. So you can choose to make your image a 320x320 or 640x640. I would choose a 640x640 pixel image so to accommodate the retina display for new iPhones.

Quick question for iPad we have 56 squares, how are people supposed to play this game with that many squares? It should have no more than 4x5 or something like that...thanks guys!
Thank you for your feedback, soon we will add puzzle difficulty option.

Hi guys!

Thanks for this feature. Is there any way you could randomize the picture? Say if you have 5 pictures and each time it starts it randoms chose one of the five?

Really appreciate any answers!
even if there is some htmlcode to do this I would be extremely grateful!
Soon we will add this.
