Search Page Type - Tutorial

One of the new page types introduced at SC is the search page, giving the end user option to search for a specific information throughout the app.

To add a Search page to your app, please, follow the steps below:

1) Go to your app's dashboard.
2) Follow the "Edit Pages" link.
3) Click the "+" (Add New Pages) button.
4) Select the "Search Page" from the list of page types available and click "Create" button to add it to your app.

Once added, you may go to edit the page itself by clicking the "Edit" button next to the appeared page.

Currently you may find an illustration only displayed in iPhone simulator online.
In order to have the search feature working properly, make sure to re-index it each time you add or edit any pages within your app.

Create the Search page, add a custom button anywhere in app linked to it, or link a page to it. Thus, whenever the end user taps the "search button" he/she will be re-directed to the search page. Enter the key words you are looking for as the search criteria, and click the "Search" button.

Once the search process is over you will be given a list of all the pages within app that contain "sample criteria" looked for.

Note*** You are welcome to create the search page for your apps now, however, you will not be able to test it through the SC app until the new version (3.1) is released at AppStore.

Thank you,
Ethan

Can this be used on an app on the 9.99 plan?

Jennifer,
yes, search functionality is available for all plans. Mind that before ordering build, the page can only be tested on the device via SC previewer app.

I added it to my app but the sample comes up instead.  When I try it in the SC PreviewAPP it works fine.  Suggestions?  Is it live already?

Vivian,
functioning of search page can not be viewed on SC web simulator. You only reindex from the website. The search page can be tested in the previewer and used in the final app that is downloadable from the AppStore.

How to create a RSS search engine, this will search my rss file,

something like: http://www.mywebsite.com/feed/?s=

But the keyword should be added at the end searching from the app

Gino,
Search page uses an index of the words met in your app. Search results will return a list of pages containing the keyword. Search is not performed outside the app.
Your search engine requires custom development. Please submit a support ticket and our developers will investigate the feature and an estimate will be prepared for you.

Are we able to add meta tags to pages that will also be searchable?

I would love to make the search tool work so that you could type in a search at the top of a menu page. Please consider this for future development.
Thanks!

Search is great but returning Info1.html is not very helpful.  Any way the search results could show the page title rather than the page name (e.g. Info1.html would show the title "Company Information")?

Hi,

For any technical questions please open a support ticket and we will gladly help you.

Were their easy updates to this feature in regards to what shows in the results page? I too think name.html doesn't look polished of the search results page, I'd rather it show the page title so it looks nice. Any way to edit this?

Louie,

At the moment there are no updates for this feature. But we will take into consideration your feedback and will review the page to see if it can be improved it the nearest future.

best regards,
Victor.

any improvements? Search for titles and show the titles, not the filename

Kleng,

Not at the moment. We will consider improving this page in one-two months.

Thank you.

Hoping you guys can tweak this sooner to show titles vs file names as it is an awful user experience this way
